My name is Ben Fairbank, I grew up in Wakefield MA and spent my summers in Hamilton. At age 7 I started my musical training on piano I also played viola before switching to alto saxophone in sixth grade. I always loved music but never loved PLAYING music until I picked up a friend’s guitar. I was generally into learning classic rock blues and heavy metal tunes but I also studied jazz. At Wakefield High School I played in the school’s jazz big band and later at Northfield Mount Hermon School I played in the small jazz improv ensemble. I graduated from NMH in 1993. After high school I attended Boston University. At BU I studied marine biology but also took some music courses. I also started writing songs and playing coffee houses and eventually started my first band. I quickly realized that music was where my talent lies and left BU to try to “make it” in music. Unfortunately, things never go as planned. However, I found myself attending Berklee College of Music where I had the privilege of studying with some of the world’s finest musicians. At Berklee, I concentrated on guitar and improvisation while studying music theory and arranging. I achieved Deans List honors every semester. While at Berklee I also was involved in several musical projects including the funk/ soul band Greesome . For 8 years I played in MOAB a cover/jam band that had a weekly gig in Beverly, MA. During that time I also played with Richard James and the Name Changers . We played all over the North East and Eastern Canada. Check us out on Itunes. We also released a Music Video that we are really proud of. About 5 years ago I relocated to Bucksport Maine with my wife Alicia and my son Thelonious. I’m also a HUGE Boston sports fan and I love to fish! That just about says it all!
